" It is a pleasure to be associated with this milestone event ", said Architect Steven Oundo, Chairman of NCA. " In life, we have three needs - Food, Clothing & Shelter. Buildexpo caters to one of the most important fundamentals input that is shelter.
I'm delighted to see the number of players in the industry under one roof that is Buildexpo", he added. " Our housing deficit 10 years ago was 200,000 houses needed evey year. Right now, we are at 300,000 managing only about 50,000 annually.
So this is the right time to advance in this industry and grab the tremendous opportunities. The government is also working hard on its vision 2030, which is to improve the prosperity of all regions of the country and all Kenyans by achieving a 10% Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth rate by 2017", he added.

Mission 2030 is a national long-term development blue-print to create a globally competitive and prosperous nation with a high quality of life by 2030, that aims to transform Kenya into a newly industrializing, middle-income country providing a high quality of life to all its citizens by 2030 in a clean and secure environment.

Construction is one of the most dynamic sectors of Kenya's economy, contributing 5 per cent of the country's gross domestic Product,Construction activity is concentrated in the major urban centers.
The construction sector is being supervised by the ministry of Lands,Housing and urban development in Kenya. The National Construction Authority under the ministry of lands and housing was developed by the parliament of Kenya with a mandate to streamline,overhaul and regulate all activities of the construction industry in Kenya and also establish a code of conduct.
All Companies in the Business of construction Must register with the National construction Authority in order to participate in major Government infrastructure projects such as tenders, supplies and general practice in engineering,roads and bridges, building and architectural design services in the country.No Construction company in Kanya can receive a permit unless it has registered with the National Construction Authority.
